Brett is a Director of Sherwood Estates P/L, a 200 Ha vineyard management company based on the original Sherwood Irrigation Area developed in the 1920’s.
Brett’s family has a proud history in the area with his grandfather J. W. Proud being an engineer employed to commission the original steam driven pumps at the river’s edge.
After returning home from a professional career in education, Brett has been actively involved in representing the Wine Grape Growers in the Riverland. He is a member of the Riverland Wine Committee and an observer on the Wine Grape Council of SA. Brett also carries out the roles of Vice President of the Sherwood Irrigation Board and is also the Deputy Chair of the Loxton Traders Co-operative Society.
During the last 5 years Brett has played a major role in the State Government policy development for the Murray Darling Basin Plan and the SARMS irrigation Improvement Program and more recently has a role on the Loxton Research Centre Management Reference Group.
Sherwood Estates supplies quality wine grapes to Accolade Wines through CCW, Treasury Wine Estates, The Wine Group, Dominic Wines and is expanding production through a value chain model selling wine directly to China.
Brett has been a member of the Executive Committee since March 2016, replacing Andrew Weeks.
