WGGA invites applications for this fantastic opportunity to attend the Vinitech-Sifel international trade show in Bordeaux, France, from 2-4 December 2014, as a VIP guest of the organisers.

Applications are now open and will close on 21 September 2014.

This opportunity has very generously been negotiated through Promosalons, the Australian agent promoting this event.

About VINITECH-SIFEL

Vinitech-Sifel is an international exhibition of equipment and innovations for the wine industry and the fruit and vegetable sector.  There are more than 850 exhibitors (representing 1200 brands including 30% international) over an exhibition area of 65,000 sqm.

Of interest to grapegrowers, on show will be:

  • Tractors
  • Tillage and maintenance equipment
  • Nursery and planting equipment
  • Spraying equipment
  • Crop protection products
  • Vine pruning and maintenance equipment
  • Harvesting equipment
  • Pesticides and fertilisers

The sponsorship package

Vinitech-Sifel is offering a return economy flight to Bordeaux and 4 nights’ hotel accommodation starting from December 1, leaving on December 5.

There will be a program of equipment demonstrations onsite at the exhibition, business meetings organised with specific exhibitors of interest to the delegate, 1 or 2 vineyard visits, and the group will attend the Gala evening on the Wednesday which is a sit-down dinner with entertainment and awards ceremony.

No meals (except for the Gala evening) are included however meals on Tuesday and Thursday are generally attended as a group.

Travel arrangements

The group will be made up of 8-10 people from the wine industry plus Sandra Trew from Promosalons-Australia.  Promosalons is a French organisation that promotes French exhibitions and events overseas.

Flight bookings are organised through Promosalons. Everyone stays at the same hotel and catches public transport (tram) out to the exhibition.

Delegates are free to depart Australia earlier and/or depart France later with any cost change at their own charge.  Bookings at the hotel in Bordeaux can also be extended in the same way.

If delegates wish to travel with a partner, accommodation can be booked as a double at no extra cost.  Partners are also welcome to attend the show and attend any of the events on the program.

Applications

The successful applicant will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Involvement with WGGA or affiliated organisations at state or regional level
  • Active involvement in industry networks to enable wide communication of experience
  • Significant investment in winegrape growing in Australia

To be eligible you will need to be a WGGA member (or willing to become one prior to the event) or a member of an industry association affiliated with WGGA.  If you are not sure of your eligibility, please speak to Kelly Bonser or Nikki Zorzi on (08) 8133 4400.

The successful applicant will be required to produce a detailed report on their experience after their return and must be willing to promote and present the report to peers and industry networks. (See report on Vinitech 2012 by Andrew Weeks.)

  • Current industry activities
  • Past/current contributions to Industry associations / technical groups
  • Viticultural experience

A brief CV can also be included but is not essential.
